Summer 2013 Tour of The Adventures of Don Quixote by Bicycle

See the kingdom of La Mancha by Bicycle, and live to tell the tale!

2013 Tour : After sell out shows in both Exeter and North Devon last year, Burn The Curtain are now touring The Adventures of Don Quixote by Bicycle to venues in England and France. This summer audiences and performers will take a short bike ride across some amazing landscapes including; cycling high on top of the South Downs, along the beautiful Brittany coastline, through the picturesque grounds of the famous Temple Newsam House in Leeds and finally over the dramatic landscape of the Clay Trails at St Austell near the Eden Project.

The Show : Don Quixote has spent his whole life reading about the heroic exploits of famous Knights inbooks. Now, with a little help from his reluctant squire Sancho Panza, and you the audience, he’s going to bring those stories to life, whatever the consequences!

Travelling together on bicycles, actors and audiences will experience the colourful and misguided escapades of Don Quixote – self styled Knight of La Mancha. This exciting piece of interactive family theatre involves actors riding custom designed bikes that even a medieval knight would be proud of. As part of the show you too can decorate your cycle, or turn your bike into a horse.

“An inventive form of theatre, a different kind of bike ride and a great way of introducing youngsters to a classic tale.” The Guardian

What are the reasons for recommending to wear a helmet?

    • Hi – sorry for the late reply-

We recommended helmet use as this is standard recommendation with all Devon County Council events. It is not a requirement, and there is no extreme cycling in the show. As you can see from our pictures, it is about 50/50 helmets and bare heads.

  6. I’m loving the look of this, I have a horse bike myself and if you send me an email I’ll send you a picture. I cycled the BHF London to Brighton on mine 3 weeks ago, yours look great.
    Cheers

After brushing down our horcycles and hanging our pennants back on the castle wall we felt we ought to drop you a line.

That was the best adventure/promenade show we have ever been to/in.

Everything was great; the idea, the acting, the place, the music, the scenography , the weather, the props and custumes.

Plus Sir Rufus rode all the way round and that was his first time on a horcycle.

    All at Oaktree Castle
